Clinical observations and experimental evidence
indicate that the presence of SRY induces
male development, irrespective of the presence
of the remainder of the Y chromosome. A chromosomally
female transgenic mouse (XX)
shows normal male development after the 14
kb DNA fragment carrying the Sry region of a
mouse Y chromosome is implanted into its
blastocyst.
